Family & Child Insight collects data about you to understand your perspectives. Family & Child Insight respects your privacy and commits to reduce the risk of your data being misused.

When you participate in research activities with Family & Child Insight, the legal basis for collection and processing of your personal data is an a priori informed consent, cf. EU General Data Protection Regulation article 6-1-a. If you are a family, participation will require an informed consent from you for both your own participation and for the participation of your child under the age of 15 years (Family & Child Insight though recommends 18 years to ensure the best possible protection of children and youths). It is required to have a thorough dialogue in the family with your child about the information provided before giving your consent. An additional Family information document targeted specifically to families, children, and youths for their family dialogue, will be provided together with the informed consent document for the family dialogue.

The kind of data collected in research activities might include:
  • Your name (children and parents) and contact details (parents) for the recruitment and the conduction of the activity.
  • Your perspectives on a topic of interest (children and parents) for understanding you
  • Photos, sounds, and videos (children and parents) for supporting the data collection
  • In certain cases, sensitive data such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, and health

Family & Child Insight will collect your data from you and through your participation.

Your data might also be collected from other sources. An example is, if you have signed up for participation with a market research panel provider, and Family & Child Insight is working with this provider for the recruitment of participants to the research. The provider will then share your personal data with Family & Child Insight, so Family & Child Insight can contact you and make an agreement about your participation, based on the informed consent you have given and the provider’s privacy policy.

Family & Child Insight will keep your data anonymous by not combining your personal data with perspectives. Your personal data will not be used for marketing, unless a specific additional consent is given for this particular purpose.
